Mitral Valve Surgery
This TEE study shows severe mitral stenosis. The mitral valve leaflets are thickened with reduced mobility. The pressure half time across the mitral valve is 252ms. The mitral valve area determined from pressure half time is 0.87cm2. The mitral valve also shows mild regurgitation. The left atrium is dilated secondary to the severe MS. There is also an atrial septal defect with left to right shunt. The aortic valve is normal, whilst there is tricuspid regurgitation. The patient has undergone mitral valve replacement with a prosthetic mechanical MVR.
