Reveal Findings

Aortic Surgery
Type A aortic dissection. The aortic root and ascending aorta are aneurysmal. There is a dissection flap present. The falp prolapses into the aortic root and valve. Aortic regurgitation may be present and the aortic valve should be evaluated in more detail. There is severe left ventricular hypertrophy present. LV systolic function appears normal. There is septal flattening seen in the transgastric short axis view, however RV function has not been adequately evaluated. The study is incomplete to comment on other aspects of cardiac function.
