TEE Views

The Views

There are 28 recommended views for a comprehensive TEE examination (Hahn et al. 2013). The basic perioperative TEE study as described by the American Society of Echocardiography (Reeves et al. 2013) includes 11 views (8 ME, 1 TG & 2 Des Ao). There are numerous variations of TEE views described for a focused or resuscitative TEE study. These range from 4 to 16 views.

The ME 5C view (0-10°) is obtained by positioning the probe in the mid-esophagus behind the LA
