The ME Mitral Comm view (50-70°) is obtained by positioning the probe in the mid-esophagus behind the LA. The multiplane angle is rotated to approximately 60 degrees. The mitral valve is imaged across its commisures. From this neutral probe orientation, turning the probe leftward (counterclockwise) may allow imaging of the length of the posterior leaflet (P3P2P1). Turning the probe rightward (clockwise from the neutral position) may allow imaging of the length of the anterior leaflet (A3A2A1)

Three-dimensional TEE surgical view of mitral valve us seen here. It shows the anatomical relationships of mitral valve with the circumflex coronary artery (CX), the coronary sinus (CS) and the atrio-ventricular node (AVN). AML = anterior mitral leaflet, P1–P2–P3 = scallops of posterior mitral leaflet, LCS = left coronary sinus, RCS = right coronary sinus, NCS = non-coronary sinus, MB = marginal branch of CX.
